It has been one hectic week

Our shipment finally arrived on Tuesday. We actually pushed and wanted them to have it delivered before the kids started school but as usual 'due to unforseen circumstances', things just didn't work out. I have learned that trying to change things which you cannot change is really a waste of time. The best thing to do is to find solutions to whatever that has been thrown at you. But...make sure you voice out your displeasure.

Perhaps, it was a blessing in disguise. With the kids in school, I could get more things done and did not have to worry about things like getting their lunch. On my own, lunch could be easily be solved with left-over pizzas or muffins.

For the past few days, my schedule was crazy...sending the kids to school, rushing off to the house to unpack and clean and then back to school to pick them up and head back to the hotel for homework and dinner and the cycle goes on. And you know, traffic in Shanghai is a nightmare, you must be punctual to beat the peak periods. One second late, you could be caught in a jam.

Finally, I have come to the end of a crazy week. The house is ready for us to shift in and we bid farewell to our dear hotel and one month of eating out (scream...) The first in my 42 years on planet earth. Believe me, I miss my own cooking!

Relocation either make you or break you and I would like to say that thus far, I have chosen to let it 'make me'.

Finally, finally, finally. Not too bad isn't it for a family of four. With each shift, we got rid of more things but....
I don't expect to have a half-filled truck on our way home!

Very professionally done. Floor was lined so that the boxes would not damage the flooring

First day of school

It is that time again, first day of school and again, as a mum, I have my worries. Worried about them not able to adapt to the changes...new teachers, new friends, new environment and most of all, will they get use to the lunch provided by the school. Perhaps, it isn't very good to have nice homecooked food because, it makes eating out such a difficult task.

Again, I have been provened wrong. The kids came back with only good news to share wth me. The fun they had, the WONDERFUL and DELICIOUS lunch they had in school. Yes, it is a good start. This moving around has really made them extremely adaptable and create a survivor in them.
Shopping Bag?

No, this wasn't a shopping bag...

It was a bag filled with school books.

It was the school orientation and the kids were brought to their classrooms and they had the chance to meet their classmates and teachers.

On our way home home, we were caught in a flash flood...

These were incidents which we used to witness back home in the 70s
Last field trip

Perhaps, this will be the last field trip with mummy dearest.

School will be starting soon, I thought I should just bring the kids for the last field trip. We made our way to the Shanghai Natural Wild Insect Kingdom.

It is a very small but extremely interesting place. It is a pity that the words used to explain the various creatures were in Chinese, if not, Kai would really be able to enjoy himself understanding all the different creepies and crawlies.

Really well-fed fishes

Various types of slimy snakes...there were many more. Eek....

I think this is call a tammerie. A mother and her baby

Creatures of all sorts

There was a small pond where the kids could catch small gold fishes and bring them home for RMB10
