Hokkaido, Japan (Part VI)
Otaru is a small harbour city. Honestly, I don't really know how to describe this place. I have ran out of words (to start with, my vocab isn't exactly great). It is just a nice little town. The moment I stepped out of the train, I felt like I was being transported to another era…
This little lamp caught my attention...
Inside the train station, more lamps
The Sakaimachi street of Otaru
Buying Japanese snacks – rice crackers. Super oishii neh!
Ah…snacking Japanese crackers and sipping Japanese coffee on the street of Otaru
The really traditional man-pull trishaw
Old-fashioned architecture lined the streets and…
other interesting sights
One section of the Otaru canal. Little wind chimes were hung across the canal. They made beautiful music.
This is the Otaru Music Box Museum. That is a steam clock, a present by the city of Vancouver
These are music boxes not for sale. I believed these are the country's heirloom. Some of them have been around since the Meiji era
So cute. So meticulously made
Inside the museum. This building must be one of the oldest standing. When you walk on the floor, it actually creaks
Birds-eye view of the museum. Yes, everything you see on display are all music boxes
The town of Otaru almost like stepping back in time. Beautiful architecture. Looks like time moves slowly there, which is great reminder for us to stop and smell the roses.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is indeed a beautiful little town!
