LA, finally

We finally arrived at Los Angeles

We stayed just right beside the Los Angeles International Airport. We could see planes landing and taking off yet not hear the noise

The next day, we took a bus to Santa Monica, a beautiful place. We walked to the bay to have a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean

Having fun at the broadwalk

Behind us, the pacific ocean

A bigger picture of the ocean

Beach houses - how would you like to have a house facing the Pacific Ocean?

We were at the right place and the right time, our favourite place - a farmers' market.

There was a farmers' market near the bay and they were selling all our favourite berries. Needless to say,
we bought them and ate them all up...and have you seen a purple cauliflower?

Guess what we spotted? A car more crappy than dh's crappy car!

LA, finally (Part II)

Our second day at LA happened to be the day of the Oscars. There were many policemen and of course lots of security agents too.

A peek into the 'Oscars'

The famous Hollywood sign and a look at the whole of LA

In front of Universal Studio, Hollywood. Ann with her Barbie doll, yes, a giant size one

All the sights of LA. See if you can spot any familiar places.

All the big names but of course, we were there only for the sight-seeing

Guess what is this? It's the window display for Prada at Rodeo Drive!

This was the hotel where they filmed 'Pretty Woman'. The road where Julia Roberts did her shopping and was turned off by the shop assistants. Remember?

A place for de-stressing?

Jim Henson Company. Guess what we spotted - Sakura (Cherry Blossom) a prelude to what we will be seeing at our next destination.

Something unique that stood out - a chain tree

You would never believe this. LA is known to be a place where the rich and famous lives but there is another part to it...this is also LA.

We managed to catch a Red Indian dance at a park. It was really colourful!

That marked the end of our journey in the United States of America. Thank you for hosting us and giving us such a wonderful memories. Looking back, I can only quote this from someone "things that are hardest to bear, are sweetest to remember".

Look out for our 'Amazing Race', heart pumping, never before experienced adventure in Japan!

Our very first experience after years of flying

We left Macungie for LA, (a six hour flight became an eight and a half hours flight), then to Tokyo before heading home. The purpose is to have a family vacation and at the same time, help the kids to adjust back to the Singapore time gradually.

A man fell sick on board and he was semi-conscious. It was like watching a movie, the flight attendants were asking if there was any medical personnel on board. A man and a lady came out and the flight attandants were running up and down the aisle with the oxygen machine. They managed to regain the man's consciousness and he was seen going to the bathroom. But not for long, at the bathroom, he passed out again and this time, we had no choice but to make an emergency landing at Kansas City.

We had to remain on board while security checks went on and refueling was done but believe it or not, the plane ran out of food and the ground catering also ran out of food. Thankfully, we had some cereals and cookies with us. Onboard was only plain water, guess that's more important than food. I must said that the kids were very good at handling the sitaution they were in. That was an adventure!

Kansas City, quite a different sight from Macungie
